Aurora del Mar is conveniently located near the many wonderful activities and attractions the North Coast has to offer. Whether you are interested in hiking, river rafting, fishing, swimming, beach combing, storm watching, antique shopping, or just relaxing by the fire, the North Coast offers activities for everyone!

Not only is our vacation home just a very short walk to the beautiful and pristine Pebble Beach and coastal tide pools, we are just a short drive from many other attractions:

*The Redwood National Parks. These State Parks comprise 45% of the old growth redwood forests in California, including approximately 40 miles of breathless Pacific Coastline! There are several visitor centers to help you plan your day tripping activities. For more information, visit their web site at www.redwood.national-park.com

*Battery Point Lighthouse. This historic lighthouse is still in use today to protect mariners at sea. During the summer months, and during low tide, you can visit the lighthouse and take a tour of this amazing lighthouse.

*Crescent City Harbor. Here you can visit the crescent shaped beach bordering the harbor or watch the ships travel in and out of this full-service, fully functioning harbor. There are also several restaurants and gift shops for you to visit.

*Smith River National Recreation Area. The Smith River is California's largest wild river system. It offers whitewater rafting excursions, kayaking, swimming, fishing and much more!

*Ocean World. Ocean World is a privately owned small aquarium in the heart of the Redwood Coast. It is home to an amazing variety of sea life, including tide pool animals, sharks and sea lions. They also have one of the best gift shops in the area. Visit their web site at www.oceanworldonline.com

*Trees of Mystery. The Trees of Mystery is a privately owned property through the Redwoods that you don't want to miss. They offer an 8/10th of a mile groomed trail through the trees, with interactive tour of the myth of Paul Bunyan. The end of the tour brings you to a Native American museum, which the owners believe is one of the best privately owned museums of it's kind in the world! They also offer a gondola ride up the mountainside, through the trees which boasts spectacular views! Visit their web site at www.treesofmystery.net

*Del Norte Golf Course. Del Norte Golf Course is a 9 hole, par 71 golf course with 2 sets of tees located near our vacation home. It is within walking distance of the Redwoods National Park. It is a walkable course but carts are available. Their rates are very reasonable.

*Several local casinos. This area is home to so many more wonderful activities for you and your traveling companions to explore!
